What The ????!!

What do we think this thing is, y'all?

I found this coyote pup under my car a few years ago.  Do you think it looks similar?  This coyote didn't eat with its front paws though.

Poor little guy

Maybe it's a raccoon with a horrible case of mange?  Am I the only one who answers my own questions?  Surely not, right?

Stuff We Find In Our Yard

My, what big teeth you have!  I found this in the neighbor's yard the other day.  Not sure if it's from a dog or a coyote.  Either way, it had some big toofers.

My oldest daughter Maddie, who's 7 1/2, looked at it and said, All I know is it has a cavity.

For some reason, I'm thinking that's the least of its worries.

Stuff We Find In Our Yard

I'm about to run out of pictures for Stuff We Find In Our Yard, y'all.  What am I going to do with myself?  I think I might have to expand my horizons and post stuff I find around Fort Worth.

Fort Worth Stock Show

Who doesn't love the Fort Worth Stock Show

Maddie checking out the goats
First of all, let me apologize for the quality of my pictures - most of them were taken with my phone.

Chicks looking at chicks

Of course we go to the stock show every year.  My husband's birthday just so happens to fall during the time of the stock show, and we love to go and walk around the grounds and have a couple of adult beverages and watch the girls smile when they see all the animals.

I love this man

One of our favorite things to do at the stock show is walk around the exhibit hall and look at all the cool things they have for sale.  Like, for instance, this cool little horse on rollers - you make him go by pushing down on the pedals:

She's as fast as lightning

You might even run into one of the coolest cows around - Miss Elsie of Borden Milk fame:

And her son Beauregard:

On our way to the sale barn, we ran into a nice cowboy that let the little ones pet his horse.

In the sale barn, there's another area with different vendors.  The girls and I fell in love with this gorgeous chair/chaise.  We'll take one for every room, please.

Yay for turquoise!!
There really are some very talented, creative people out there and a lot of them are selling their wares at the Fort Worth Stock Show.  You really ought to go check them out.

Leaving the Fort Worth Stock Show
There's so much to see and do at the stock show.  You really just have to go and experience it for yourself.  It's legendary, you know!

We had a great time at the Fort Worth Stock Show, just like we do every year.

Stuff We Find In Our Yard

One day I looked out the window and thought it was The Attack of the Goats - there was like 20 of them in our yard.  After eating everything and anything that was green, except the grass, we were able to shoo them back to their home (they belong to a neighbor).

That reminds me...did I ever tell you about the time I was sitting in my recliner in the living room and I happened to look up out of our "Hello, Goodbye Window" and there was this big ol' eyeball just staring at me - I mean it was a huge eyeball - ginormous eyeball in the corner of the window.  I got up to see what it was, and this huge streak of blonde goes running westbound.

The peeping Tom turned out to be this cow:

Isn't it a cute cow?  I wound up calling this cow "friend" because every time we'd go outside, it would come up to the fence.  Guess it was just wanting to get a closer look at us.

Stuff We Find In Our Yard

Why did the beaver cross the road???  To get to his dam home.

So this wasn't actually taken in our yard, but it was in the dam neighborhood.

Stuff We Find In Our Yard

So technically I didn't find this thing in my yard - I just heard it.  I still don't know what it was.  I can only assume it was some kind of bird...or monkey...or sasquatch.

Stuff We Find In Our Yard

So this morning I'm sitting here at the computer looking through pictures trying to figure out which one to post for Stuff We Find In Our Yard, when all the sudden this bobcat strolls across our driveway.  I jump up, grab the fancy camera my sister gave me, take the lens cap off and start snapping pictures through the window.  These pictures were going to be awesome.  The bobcat was sitting so still and he was looking right in my direction.  I was able to snap six pictures of him before he decided to head down into the creek.  This is one of my amazing pictures from my photo session this morning:

I just about cried when I uploaded the pictures.

But, the bobcat came back and I was able to trot outside and snap a few pics of him sitting next door in my neighbor's yard. (Have you ever trotted before?  It's sorta fun.)

Not the greatest picture ever, but it'll do.

Stuff We Find In Our Yard

I know this is kind of morbid, but I thought today being the day before Halloween would be the best day to post this picture.  It's a hawk that we found dead in our yard.  It's a gorgeous bird and they are definitely larger than I ever imagined them being.  This picture was taken probably about seven years ago.

Happy Halloween - ah, ah, ah!

Can you spot the three birdies on the branch?  Don't they look cute sitting there all snuggled up?

Stuff We Find In Our Yard

This was found this past weekend in the creek.  Apparently it's the lower jaw of a snapping turtle.  I'd hate to have been on the business end of that one tooth.  That would have been some Live Action right there, Turtle Man.

Stuff We Find In Our Yard

It's Tuesday so that means time for another episode of Stuff We Find In Our Yard.

I found this in our backyard one day.  I had no idea what it was.

Do you know what it is?

I think it might belong to this critter:

Stuff We Find In Our Yard

Time for another installment of Stuff We Find In Our Yard.

Our dog was barking one night - like, nonstop barking.  I flung open the back door to see what she was barking at.  Since there's a fence immediately to the left when you open the back door, I looked to the right.  I didn't see anything.  I look down at the dog and notice she's staring at something to my left.  I slowly turn my head to the left and this dang thing is just sitting there on top of the fence staring at me.

I scream and do the only natural thing there is to do, and that's run in and get my camera.  I then scold the possum and tell him the least he could have done was bring his dang guitar and belted out He Stopped Loving Her Today.
