North Texas Tornadoes - How We Can Help
My thoughts and prayers continue to be with those affected by the devastating storms that ripped through North Texas last night. I'm sure those of us in Fort Worth either know people or have family in Hood County and Johnson County and other areas that were affected by the tornadoes.
I've been searching online all morning trying to find out how we can help. I've heard that The Salvation Army and The Red Cross are taking donations, but then the Hood County News website says to hold off on donations - I think they're trying to come up with a location where people can take supplies locally - in the meantime, donate to The Salvation Army and The Red Cross.
If you're trying to find out information about loved ones in the area, call this number: 817-579-2888.
Hood County officials have also established an emergency line - 682-498-8010.
If you are a resident or have family in the area affected by the tornado in Hood County, or searching for someone in the affected area, please use the Red Cross Safe & Well website.
I've read that if you need a place to stay due to the storm damage in Hood County, go to First Christian Church of Granbury (817-573-5431) 2109 Highway 377 West, just past Pirate Drive, in Granbury next to Tractor Supply. Red Cross officials and other volunteers are on hand, and food and water supplies are available there.
Another relocation center was set up at Granbury First United Methodist, 301 Loop 567, Granbury, Texas 76048 - 817-573-5573. That relocation center has now closed according to The Red Cross website.
The Humane Society of North Texas has a trailer in the Granbury area to help with animal control and displaced animals. Their phone number is: 817-332-4768
Grumps Burgers 3503 East Highway 377, Granbury is offering to buy you lunch if you've been displaced by the storms. How awesome is that! Next time I'm in Granbury, I'm eating at Grumps Burgers.
From The Salvation Army website:
Financial donations can be made in the following ways to support The Salvation Army’s response to the North Texas tornadoes:
• MAIL – please send checks to The Salvation Army, PO Box 36607, Dallas, TX 75235

Cleburne:
The Salvation Army has set up a mobile disaster kitchen at Cleburne Conference Center, 1501 Henderson Street, at 10:00 AM to serve meals for up to 125 people today. This service may continue until 7:00 PM or longer if needed.
TNT Builders will be out today in the Cleburne area offering emergency tarping for free - no strings attached. What a great example of neighbors helping neighbors!
UPDATE FOR HOOD COUNTY:
The volunteer center closes at 7pm tonight and will reopen tomorrow morning at 7am.
Donations can be made through the American Red Cross on their website.
The Tarrant County Food Bank will have a food pantry set up on Saturday from 9am-11:30am at First United Methodist Church.
The Tarrant Area Food Bank will also accept food donations at 2600 Cullen St., Fort Worth, 76107. Please see their acceptable list of non-perishable foods.
Donations of material items can be made to Mission Granbury by making arrangements at 817-614-2556.
Persons needing assistance from the Red Cross can call 817-335-9137.
Sheriff Deeds will hold a press conference at the HEB Media Staging area at 4pm today.
The affected area will remain closed and a time frame to reopen has not been set.
I'll update this post as soon as I get more information on how we can help.

Cute iPhone App For Kids - Endless Alphabet
I came across this app yesterday while I was at the doctor's office. I was trying to keep my 3-year-old entertained, and those old apps on my phone weren't cutting it. So I searched and came across this app and I just love it - so does the 3-year-old. It's called Endless Alphabet.
It teaches not only the alphabet, but phonics and definitions as well. It's very entertaining and animated and my daughter could have played this game all day long.
Go here for more information and to download.
And I almost forgot the best part...it's FREE!!!

Recipe To Try - Chicken & Green Chile Enchiladas
This recipe is delicious. It comes from Everyday Mom's Meals.
The recipe calls for chicken tenders, but I used chicken that my husband cooked on the grill that had been marinated in olive oil and a package of zesty Italian dressing - you know, the dry stuff that's over there by the ranch dressing packets at the store.
And, yes, my husband even took leftovers of this to work the next day...and that is saying something since he's usually not a fan of "yard bird".

What I've Been Working On - Spinny Stool
Can you tell I'm slightly obsessed with stools? This one is just so pretty...and it spins, y'all! How fun is that?
I forgot to take a before picture, but imagine rust colored vinyl on the top and plain wood on the bottom. It wasn't very pretty.
But she is now. I'll miss you, Spinny Stool. I hope you go to a fabulous home.
You can buy this beaut at the Vineyards Antique Mall in Colleyville - Just ask for Booth Vintage 32 or Dealer #13.

Stuff We Find In Our Yard
My, what big teeth you have! I found this in the neighbor's yard the other day. Not sure if it's from a dog or a coyote. Either way, it had some big toofers.
My oldest daughter Maddie, who's 7 1/2, looked at it and said, All I know is it has a cavity.
For some reason, I'm thinking that's the least of its worries.
