Prairie Fest This Weekend

Prairie Fest 2010
Have y'all ever been to Prairie Fest?  We try to go every year.  We always have a great time.

From their website11am to Sunset  The 9th annual Prairie Fest is a free outdoor festival celebrating the natural world at the Best Place to see wildflowers in north Texas. A FW Weekly Best Outdoor Cultural Event winner, the family-friendly, solar-powered event is Saturday, April 26, 2014, 11:00 am to sunset, rain or shine. Along with arts, entertainment, and tasty local food and beverages you’ll find prairie wildflower tours, storytellers and nature-science hikes on rolling hills, spontaneous happenings inside the Prairie Circle of artists and green exhibitors.

Prairie Fest 2012

You can buy stuff, drink stuff, eat stuff, learn about stuff, listen to stuff, look at stuff.  It's pretty dang fun!  Now, where else can you do all that without having to pay to get in?

Here's how you get there:

Throwback Thursday - Rangers Fan

I'd say this is circa 1976 or '77.  This is a pic of my brother and I fishing.  Can you tell which one I am?  We both look like boys!  I'm the one holding the fish wearing my Rangers shirt.  I'd bet good money that my brother is sporting his Fun of Fishing shirt.

I'm not sure where this pic is taken but I'm sure it's not too far from Fort Worth.

I love this picture.  Just about every single one of my memories from childhood involved being out in the great outdoors!!  Can't go wrong wearing your cut-offs, Rangers shirt and being outside fishing with your family.  Those were the days.

Recipe To Try - Cream Cheese Wontons

These were awesome.  And by awesome I mean, like, totally awesome.  And what makes these even more awesomer (yep, that's a word...in my dictionary anyway) is the amazingly awesome dipping sauce.

Don't be hatin' on my butcher block laminate countertops, yo.
Notice how there's, like, no sauce left?  It's because my husband and I devoured it.  I remembered to take a pic right before it was too late.

Click here to be taken to the recipes (or the doorway of awesomeness, as I like to call it) over on PW's site.

My only complaint about these cream cheese wontons is that you have to have patience to stand there and roll these suckers up.  At the end, I made one giant ravioli type wonton (you can see it in the first pic) because I was tired of standing there trying to make them all cute and cuddly.  Don't do that...because my giant ravioli didn't turn out right - too chewy.  I'm sure I probably still ate it, but it wasn't as good as those cute little wontons I spent countless seconds wrapping up.

Give these a shot soon!  They're awesome!  They're definitely worth the back pain!

(You can usually find the wonton wrappers in the refrigerated section of your grocery store.)

ESPN in Sundance Square

Did y'all make it out to Sundance Square this past weekend?  I took my youngest daughter out there Saturday.  It was a little drizzly and pretty cold, but we stayed long enough to snap a few pics.

Always puts that hand on that hip!

They weren't filming while we were there, but it was still pretty cool to look at everything they had set up out there.

Check my calendar because Sundance Square has tons of stuff planned for this spring and summer.

What The ????!!

What do we think this thing is, y'all?

I found this coyote pup under my car a few years ago.  Do you think it looks similar?  This coyote didn't eat with its front paws though.

Poor little guy

Maybe it's a raccoon with a horrible case of mange?  Am I the only one who answers my own questions?  Surely not, right?

Places To Go - Check Out The Calendar

I've spent quite a bit of time updating the calendar up there in the tabs.  Fort Worth has tons and tons of stuff going on this spring/summer, and a lot of the activities are FREE.  Can't beat that!

Most, if not all, of the events listed on my calendar have links taking you directly to that event's website.  So don't forget to click on the actual event if you want more information about it.

There's a bunch of stuff going on in Sundance Square - free yoga, free boot camps, free movies, free jazz music, even a free Etsty Fair that I'm ecstatic about.

Coming up, we've got Prairie Fest, Mayfest, Main Street Arts Festival, Friday on the Green, Fort Worth Music Fest, NRH20's opening...the list goes on and on.  Check out our calendar now and make some plans.
